After his niece asked him to write an account of his service in the Royal Army Medical Corp (RAMC) during active duty in Italy in World War II, Arthur Emery, was a quiet unassuming man who recounted a no holds barred account of his experiences.  Although this was written for his niece and not intended to be public,  this is an important personal history and a rich reflection of the reality of wartime.  A rare glimpse, written not by Generals or Officers, but by a reluctant soldier on the front lines.
