Phytotherapeutic Treatments for Menopause Related Symptoms (Report)
Introduction Treatment of menopause related complaints in Anglo American phytotherapeutic practice aims not to indefinitely ‘replace’ hormones but to facilitate comfortable adaptation to the fluctuating hormone levels of perimenopause and lower levels of the postmenopause. As symptoms vary according to the individual and the stage of the transition, a range of agents and actions may be indicated including, but not confined to, those with estrogenic effects. The phytoestrogenic options which have received the most attention in the scientific arena were reviewed previously. The current article reviews the evidence for other phytotherapeutic agents commonly used in this context.
