Introduction Infectious complications constitute an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients who undergo hematopoietic progenitor transplantation (HSCT). Bloodstream infections are among the most frequent bacterial infections in these patients, and central vascular catheters are a very common source of the bacteremia [1,2].
